K is for Kitchen
Yesterday while I was picking up Cat’s Pop Diva outfit at Big Lots, I found the Barbie Kitchen set that I was staring at in ToysRUs last weekend. On a whim, I snatched it up.
I guess I wasn’t THAT excited about it because I didn’t open it up till right before I went to bed this morning. But it’s cute anyway.
For once, it wasn’t ALL pink, which was a major reason I was even looking at it in the first place. It’s a whole unit which was another thing I bought it for. It comes with a few goodies and neato stuffs so I was fairly pleased. It’s got a dishwasher and a built in fridge, a separate stove and oven island and the dining table and chairs. The drawers below the shelves can pull out too. The first picture is the entire set, being modeled by Kana and Mami.
Among the little stuff it comes with: a blender, pink and neon yellow potted flowers, jell-o, cookies, crackers, bread, Mott’s apple sauce, icecream and frozen veggies and a lame lame “got milk” bottle. Lots of cooking utensils, and a spaghetti dinner set for 2 and a pestle bowl (is that what they’re called? cuz I don’t know my cooking instruments…). About the coolest thing this set came with are the little noodle storage jars. Semi-realistic compared to the other pink crap packages the other food items are stuck on. 2nd coolest thing is the cooking book holder, as seen on the edge of the stove island.
Complaints are: the thing is sorta short… My girls, when they stand up straight against it, their head is well beyond the top of the kitchen unit. I suppose for small apartment living it would be okay. But having to bend over to access the refrigerator is kinda odd. My other complain, the unit is unstable. You definitely need to stand this on something flat. Otherwise you touch it and it’ll flip backwards. Shoot you just look at it and it’ll flip backwards! So either you place it on a hard flat surface or something needs to be stuck back there to keep it upright. The stickers and cardboard backing it comes with is kinda pink and cheesy. =_= That’s why I didn’t apply any of them. I’m not sure I want a turkey eternally roasting in the oven. It doesn’t matter, I’ll probably end up spray painting it anyway. Not sure I like a baby blue kitchen either.
The third and fourth pictures, I stuffed the kitchen full of kitchen littles and Licca food items.
Overall, I’d say it’s ok! I don’t feel it was a waste of money or anything. I bought it at Big Lots for $9.99. I was willing to spring for that price instead of the $13.99 at ToysRUs. I wouldn’t pay that much for it. But I would actually probably buy a 2nd one so I can get more tables and chairs. Maybe a few extra pasta jars. XD
