Fine art of balancing
I’m a fool. But I’m very proud to say that I’ve pretty much mastered the art of balancing my dolls to stand without any extra support. If you look in most of my photos, you’ll see that the doll doesn’t use a stand. The good thing with these jointed dolls is that you can slightly shift their weight in their hips and above to make them stand.
It’s really easy to do… er that is if you don’t have floppy dolls to start with XD. First get it so that their ankles can support them… straighten them out and position them so that weight can be balanced evenly between the two. Very carefully remove your hand and see if the doll starts to tilt in a direction. If they do, just push them back at the waist slightly to counter that tilt. Keep on doing it until the stand by themselves.
It takes practice but now I can balance them in a few seconds, making photo taking easy. Stands don’t get in the way any longer and I don’t have to try and smudge them out. Once you master the ancient chinese secret of doll balancing, it doesn’t matter what shoes you use, you’ll always be able to balance them. I mean… check it, Chi in the first photo is bending over starin at her feet and she’s balanced. Coooool. 😀
